Anime Review: The Big O

I know some might disagree with me, but honestly I felt the first season was a 10/10.

I still recommend the first season to anybody who will listen. I was mesmerized by the dark mystery that was Big O, and when I heard Cartoon Network was going to fund a second season I was ecstatic.

Unfortunately, I hated the second season. I felt like everything changed, aside from the characters. It had a different feel, and I felt like it had a completely different story line than the first season. The ending seemed as if it were a cop-out ending as well. I failed to anticipate or appreciate its direction.

I left Big O irritatingly confused. Perhaps I'll re-watch it with some friends and we'll pick it apart. Until then, 5/5. I would love to see a remake of the series.

Anime Review: Eden of the East

To me, this series felt very slow at times, including the very first episode. If I weren't watching this series with my friends, I would have possibly discontinued watching it.

The story line was very mysterious, and that was the most compelling part of this whole series. Unfortunately, when the truth is finally revealed the answers are very anti-climactic and boring.

This series had a lot going for it, and just dropped the ball. Maybe you'll enjoy it more than I did, but I definitely won't be re-watching this series. I will, however, continue by watching the two movies that follow, and continue my review.

Anime Review: Tekkonkinkreet

Having just finished this anime movie, I don't even really know where to begin.

If you like unique art styles, then this anime is for you. It's very stylistic, and incredibly imaginative, which also leads to the fact that the movie is absolutely abstract.

The overarching theme seems to be, "all you need is love". Other than that, my friends and I struggle to find the main point of this movie. This is not to say that you shouldn't watch it. It was very entertaining, again just incredibly abstract. I'd compare it to a dark Peter Pan, with the main characters possibly representing Yin and Yang.

The soundtrack was beast, the art style charming, and overall I'd recommend this movie to a friend.
